Overview

OpenDax provides white-label cryptocurrency exchange infrastructure. I designed both the end-user trading interface and the admin panel, with the project reaching 582 forks on GitHub.

My role

I contributed to the transition of the platform's UI/UX from a centralized framework to a decentralized model. I personally handled the desktop design, led the UI kit development, and coordinated with graphic designers on icons and other visual elements. I also supervised the mobile UI, overseeing the design of both mobile web and app interfaces.

The challenge

White-label means the same product serves radically different clients: a retail exchange in Southeast Asia, a regulated fintech in Europe, an OTC desk. Each had different branding, compliance requirements, and users - but one codebase.

Design system

I built a token-based design system in Figma with theme variables covering color, typography, radius, and spacing. A single swap of 12 tokens could transform the product from dark crypto to clean fintech - without touching component logic.

What I learned

Making the UI kit open source demonstrated OpenDax's commitment to transparency, community-driven innovation, and collaborative growth. It strengthened the brand and helped build trust with potential users and partners.

The visibility generated by the Figma UI kit led to 23 collaboration inquiries and white-label development opportunities, creating direct engagement with potential clients and users.

The Figma Community provided valuable feedback on the UI kit, leading to iterative improvements and solidifying its role as a trusted, user-friendly resource.

Open sourcing the system turned distribution into continuous product validation. Every duplicate, comment, and real-world adaptation revealed how well the components worked beyond the original product context.
